White Abarrio Continues Comeback March in Mr. Prospector

White Abarrio dominated an allowance field on his return to racing after over five months away Ryan Thompson

Drawn in the 10-hole for this next stop on his comeback tour, MGISW White Abarrio (Race Day) will tackle 11 others in Saturday's GIII Mr. Prospector Stakes at Gulfstream Park all while keeping an eye on the GI Pegasus World Cup in January.

The class of the field with the numbers and earnings to match in this seven-furlong contest, White Abarrio was given 3-5 morning line favoritism to work with despite likely being lower when the gates open. After his 10 1/4-length romp last out Nov. 22 against local optional claiming company, Saffie Joseph Jr. has the grey primed for another step toward that goal..

“He handled it well. There was a lot of pressure on him going in and we were happy to see him bounce back,” Joseph said. “It seemed that his performance was up to his previous good ones, so hopefully he'll come back in this race and do the same.”

“He seems to have come forward from that race, which is a good sign. Hopefully, all the signs lead to a good performance on Saturday.”

That isn't to say he'll have it easy with distance specialist GSW & GSW-Chi Mufasa (Chi) (Practical Joke) looking to rebound off a disappointing 11th in the GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile Nov. 2 at Del Mar and play the spoiler here. The GIII Vosburgh Stakes winner has been given 9-2 morning line odds.
